Stourport Cemetery fees as from 1 April 2024

FEES, PAYMENTS AND SUMS fixed and settled under The Public Health (Interments) Act 1879.

The fees, payments and sums set out below apply where the person to be interred or in respect of whom the right is granted, is, or immediately before his death was, an inhabitant or parishioner of the Town of Stourport-on-Severn or, in the case of a still-born child, where the parents or one of them are, or at the time of the interment were, such an inhabitant or parishioner. The term ‘parishioner’ does not include any person who is not an inhabitant or Council Tax payer of the said Town of Stourport-on-Severn. In all other cases the fees, payments and sums will be doubled.

The fees indicated for various heads of Part 1.

  • include the digging of the grave;
  • apply only where interment is made between the hours of 9.30 am, and 3.00 pm, (depending on season) on a weekday (i.e. Monday to Friday) or where interment is made on the certificate of a coroner or registered medical practitioner that immediate interment is necessary. In any other case an additional £10 is payable.
  • apply provided that the interment is made within ten minutes of the time arranged with the Cemetery Registrar. If not so made an additional £10 is payable in respect of each fifteen minutes (or part thereof) after that time.

Part 1 - Interments

Type of interment Fee
1. For the interment in a grave in respect of which an Exclusive Right of Burial has or has not been granted.
A Of the body or cremated remains of a still-born child, or of a child whose age at the time of death did not exceed 1 month. No charge
B Of the body of a child whose age at the time of death exceeded one
month but did not exceed 12 years.

C Of the body of a person whose age at the time of death exceeded 12 years.  £900.00
D Burials featuring oversized or casket type coffins (from 27 inches up to a permitted maximum of 33 inches wide).  £1,275.00
2. For the interment of cremated remains in a grave in respect of which an Exclusive Right of Burial has been granted.  £400.00

Part 2 - Exclusive rights of burial in earthen graves

All fees indicated for Part 2 include the Deed of Grant and all expenses thereof.

For the Exclusive Right of Burial for a period of 60 years in an earthen grave 9 feet by 4 feet.  This is mandatory upon a second interment or for anyone wishing to place an headstone upon a plot.

For the Exclusive Right of Burial of cremated remains for a period of 60 years in a space 3 feet x 3 feet    £400.00  

N.B.  Anyone wishing to inter cremated remains in either a grave or a cremation plot must purchase the Exclusive Right of Burial.

Part 3 - Monuments, gravestones, vases and monumental inscriptions

For the right to erect or place on a grave

A flat stone £180.00 
A headstone
(On a grave a headstone must not exceed 12 inches in height by 15 inches wide by 18 inches. On a cremation plot a headstone must not exceed 12 inches in height by 13 inches x 13 inches).

N.B. Any base or plinth fixed beneath a Memorial must not exceed the area of the memorial by more than 6 inches in either dimension nor protrude above surrounding ground level.
